One of the directorates general under Kemdikbud is the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek), which focuses on the development and management of higher education, research, and technological innovation.

During a 4-month internship in the Public Relations Department of Ditjen Diktiristek, responsibilities included the development of effective communication strategies. The main focus was on content writing and development, as well as managing photography and videography. Additional duties included serving as a talent and model for video content, video editing, and creative campaign management.

The focus was on social media communication strategies to promote various Ditjen Diktiristek programs, particularly the Merdeka Campus initiative. This involved managing social media channels to disseminate information about Merdeka Campus by creating engaging content that showcases the program's benefits and achievements. The communication strategy emphasized the use of compelling visual narratives to inform and engage students and the academic community. Through this approach, it is hoped to enhance understanding of the flexible learning system and real-world learning opportunities, thereby encouraging active participation from the audience.

Active Involvement in Projects

Social Media Strategy Development

The first task was to develop an effective social media strategy for Ditjen Diktiristek. This strategy included identifying the target audience, selecting the appropriate platforms, and determining the types of content suitable for promoting the Merdeka Campus initiative.

Social Media Content Management

Managing Ditjen Diktiristek's social media channels involved planning, creating, and scheduling content. The content produced was designed to provide clear and engaging information about the benefits and opportunities offered by the Merdeka Campus. Various content formats, such as infographics, short videos, and images, were used to capture the audience's attention.

Visual Content Creation

Photography and videography played a crucial role in the content creation process. Capturing images and recording videos during events and activities related to the Merdeka Campus helped create engaging visual content. This content was used to reinforce the messages conveyed through social media channels.

Event Coverage

Attending and covering events organized by Ditjen Diktiristek, including seminars, workshops, and promotional activities for the Merdeka Campus. The coverage process included documenting through photos and videos, as well as creating event summaries to be shared via social media channels. This coverage not only increased the visibility of the events but also strengthened engagement with the audience.

Creative Social Media Campaigns

Designing and implementing creative social media campaigns aimed at enhancing audience engagement with the Merdeka Campus initiative. These campaigns included various themes and messages focusing on the program's benefits and the opportunities available for students.

Social Media Performance Analysis and Evaluation

Conducting analysis on the performance of social media content to assess the effectiveness of the implemented strategies. By monitoring engagement metrics such as likes, comments, and shares, insights were gained into audience preferences, allowing for adjustments to upcoming content strategies.

Awards Received

During the internship period, efforts in managing social media and public communication yielded impressive results. Ditjen Diktiristek was awarded the Best Social Media Award from the Public Relations Indonesia Award and the Indonesia Digital Media Award. These accolades reflect the effectiveness of the communication strategy and the ability to engage and reach audiences in an innovative and compelling manner.

This success is also evident in Ditjen Diktiristek’s social media growth, with an increase of over 30,000 Followers and a reach of 100,000+ during this period. These figures underscore the effectiveness of the content management approach and audience engagement, affirming that the strategies implemented had a significant impact.

Conclusion

The internship at Ditjen Diktiristek provided a deep understanding of social media management within the educational context. With a focus on developing and implementing social media strategies to promote the Merdeka Campus, this role contributed to increasing public awareness and engaging the academic community. This experience highlighted the importance of social media as an effective communication tool to reach and educate the audience about relevant educational initiatives.
