Additionally, the DPR RI maintains a balance of power with the executive branch through diligent oversight, ensuring transparency and accountability in government operations.
During a three-month internship at the Public Relations Department of the Secretariat General of the DPR RI, the primary focus was on understanding the communication strategies used to disseminate information about the roles and responsibilities of the DPR RI. This included managing educational social media platforms to help the public, particularly younger generations, better understand the legislative process, oversight functions, and the importance of public participation in policymaking.
Active Involvement in Projects
This internship involved several key responsibilities within the Public Relations Department, focusing on managing the Instagram account @edukasiparlemen, an educational platform aimed at increasing public understanding of parliamentary processes. The main responsibilities included:
Content Production for Instagram
A significant portion of the internship was dedicated to creating visual and informative content for the Instagram account @edukasiparlemen. This task involved producing infographics, carousel posts, and short videos explaining crucial processes such as lawmaking, budget oversight, and the role of the DPR RI in national governance. The content aimed to simplify complex information into engaging and easily digestible material for the general public, especially young audiences.
Instagram Content Management and Development
Managing the Instagram account @edukasiparlemen was a core task, which included planning, creating, and scheduling daily content. This required a deep understanding of social media trends and the preferences of Instagram audiences to ensure that the content was relevant and effective in boosting engagement. Monitoring audience interactions, such as likes, comments, and shares, and analyzing performance metrics to measure content effectiveness were also part of the responsibilities.
Support for Communication Campaigns on Instagram
As part of the communication team, this role also supported the execution of educational campaigns run through the Instagram account @edukasiparlemen. These campaigns aimed to raise public awareness about the legislative functions of the DPR RI and encourage active public participation, particularly in voicing opinions on draft laws (RUU). Developing key messages and appropriate delivery strategies was crucial to ensuring that the content was accessible to the audience.
Event Promotion Support through Instagram
The internship also included supporting the promotion of public events or educational initiatives hosted by the DPR RI through Instagram @edukasiparlemen. This task involved creating promotional content that was informative and engaging for workshops, seminars, or public forums aimed at enhancing public understanding of the functions and roles of the DPR RI.
Offline Parliamentary Education Activities
In addition to managing the Instagram account, the internship provided hands-on experience in supporting offline parliamentary education activities. These included direct communication with the public to introduce the functions and roles of the DPR RI. Below are the key responsibilities during the offline activities:

These sessions were aimed at students, university attendees, and the general public. Typically held in the DPR RI's meeting halls, participants received detailed explanations about the structure of the DPR, legislative processes, budget oversight, and other essential functions of the DPR RI.Guided Tours of the DPR RI Museum
The tours provided a more direct and interactive experience regarding the history and development of the Indonesian parliament. Participants were guided through the museum’s collection, including historical artifacts, visual exhibits, and documentation of parliamentary processes throughout Indonesia’s history.

The successful management of the @edukasiparlemen Instagram account during the internship period was marked by a significant achievement, with an increase of over 3000+ Followers and a 30,000+ Reach within three months. These figures reflect the effectiveness of the content strategy in attracting attention and substantially boosting audience engagement.
This achievement was realized through several key initiatives. First, the quality of content was enhanced, focusing on delivering informative, engaging, and relevant information to the young audience. The use of infographics, short videos, and other interactive formats ensured that messages were communicated clearly and visually appealing.
Second, a consistent and well-planned content schedule, leveraging current social media trends, helped maintain the account's relevance and boosted follower engagement.
Third, active interaction with the audience played a crucial role in building a strong community. Through Q&A sessions, polls, and responsive comments, audience engagement and loyalty were significantly improved.
Additionally, routine evaluations were conducted through engagement metrics analysis and audience feedback. This allowed for continuous adjustments to the content strategy, making it more effective in addressing the interests and needs of the followers.
This success not only highlights the effectiveness of the implemented strategies but also demonstrates that educating the public about parliamentary affairs can be effectively conveyed through digital platforms like Instagram, with impressive results.
